Digital Media Program at Dobbins CTE High School

In Mr Taylor’s Digital Media class at Dobbins CTE High School, students are recording podcasts, editing video, and developing short films — all exercises of their creative muscle for a career in Digital Media. Here’s a small sample of recent projects, which WHYY Media Instructor Ben Felker-Quinn supported.

Take a look at Colors of the World, which fuses students’ color associations with their photographs of nearby everyday objects. As a short virtual project, it allowed us to rehearse the entire film-making process in preparation for their short films — from script, to storyboard, to production and editing

Check out the “Life in 2021” podcast (begun as “Life in 2020”)! Episode 4 features an interview with freshman Yailis Correa, who recently took 2nd place in Philly’s first Student Oratorical Contest! Digital Media students opted to start recording video in addition to audio in order to reach a wider audience via Youtube.

If you’re curious to know more about Dobbins’ Digital Media Program, there’s still time to register for their upcoming symposium (Friday, April 9) with Temple’s Klein College of Media and Communication.
